Bisolvon is an over the counter medication that is used for treating chest congestion and cough. It belongs to a group of medicines called mucolytics, which work by breaking down mucus so that it is easier to cough out. You may experience increased coughing within the first use.

Bisolvon Extra Dosage Considerations

It is available in 60 ml and 125 ml syrup solution. Every 5 ml syrup contains 4 mg of Bromhexine Hydrochloride and 100 mg of Guaifenesin.

This cough medicine is recommended for children aged 2 years and over. The following is the recommended dosage for Bisolvon Extra:

  • Children aged 2 to 6 years old: 2.5 ml 3 times a day.
  • Children aged 6 to 12 years old: 5 ml 3 times a day.
  • Adults and children >12: 10 ml 3 times a day.

Precautions Before Taking Bisolvon Extra

Consumption of this medicine together with antibiotics such as amoxicillin, cefuroxime, erythromycin, or doxycycline, will increase the concentration of these antibiotics.

  • Ask your doctor if the solution is safe for patients with stomach ulcers. 
  • The use of Bisolvon Extra during the first trimester is not recommended.

In general, Bisolvon Extra does not have serious side effects. However, possible side effects may include, such as:

  • Headache and vertigo
  • Digestive problems
  • Allergic skin rashes

2. Bisolvon Kids

Bisolvon Kids is a sugar-free cough syrup for children. This cough syrup is suitable for children aged 2 years and over and diabetics.

It contains Bromhexine which works by loosening mucus in your air passage. This product helps relieve symptoms of cough with phlegm.

Bisolvon Kids Dosage Considerations

It is available in bottle of 60 ml. Every 5 ml syrup contains 4 mg of Bromhexine Hydrochloride.

The following are its dosage recommendations:

  • Children aged 2 to 5 years old: 5 ml 2 times a day.
  • Children aged 6 to 10 years old: 5 ml 3 times a day.
  • Adults and children >10: 10 ml,3 times a day.
  • Or as exactly directed by your doctor

Bisolvon Solution is a cough medicine to thin out mucus so that you can expel it when you cough. This medicine contains Bromhexine which works by thinning phlegm in the air passage. 

It is sugar free – making it safe to use for children and diabetics. 

Bisolvon Solution Dosage Considerations

It is available in bottle of 50 ml. Each 1 ml contains 2 mg of Bromhexine Hydrochloride.

The following is its recommended dosage for a 10 mg / 5 ml drop solution (60 drops = 4 ml):

  • Children aged 2 to 5 years old: 2 ml, two times a day.
  • Children aged 5 to 10 years old: 2 ml, three times a day.

Precautions Before Taking Bisolvon Solution

Bisolvon Solution may increase respiratory tract fluid secretions and helps to loosen phlegm. This medicine is recommended to use for children aged 2-10 years old.

Make sure to use it with the recommended dosage or as exactly directed by the doctor.

4. Bisolvon Tablets

Bisolvon Tablet Dosage Considerations

It is available in 4 and 10 tablet strips. Each tablet contains 8 mg of Bromhexine Hydrochloride

The following is its recommended dosage:

  • Children aged 2 to 6 years old: ½ tablet, two times a day.
  • Children aged 6 to 12 years old: ½ tablet, three times a day.
  • Adults and children >12: 1 tablet, three times a day.
