I am Dr Evan Woo, a Plastic Surgeon at Evan Woo Breast & Plastic Surgery based in Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. I specialise in breast surgery and reconstruction, postnatal rejuvenation and aesthetic surgery, lymphaedema surgery, and paediatric plastic surgery. I started with a broad-based training in plastic surgery, covering all aspects of reconstruction, wound and scar management, and aesthetic surgery. Because I believe that super-specialisation would provide a more nuanced understanding and therefore better outcomes for my patients, I furthered my training at The Nottingham Breast Institute on a Health Manpower Development Programme scholarship. There, I honed my skills in the advancing fronts of breast cancer surgery – microsurgical breast reconstruction and oncoplastic breast surgery. I am currently one of a handful of surgeons in Singapore able to offer both the full range of options in breast cancer removal (lumpectomy / breast conservation surgery / oncoplastic breast surgery), and the full gamut of reconstructive options after both breast removal or breast conservation surgery (including use of perforator flap-free tissue transfer). This ensures a truly integrated and comprehensive breast surgery practice. At the same time, I have extensive experience in breast enhancement (augmentation, lifts, reductions and rejuvenation) and body contouring (tummy tucks, liposuction and fat grafting). I also run a laser service for the management of pigmentation and skin rejuvenation. I am concurrently a consultant plastic surgeon and a consultant breast surgeon at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore’s premier hospital for women and children. I am also a tutor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School where I hold the appointment of Adjunct Assistant Professor. I am the Founder and President of the Breast Reconstruction Awareness Singapore (BRAS), a non-profit society that aims to educate Singaporeans about breast reconstruction. Doctor, I am a mother with one child. He is 1 year old. My breasts have became flat due to breastfeeding. I am thinking of having breast implants. Can I still breastfeed after doing the implants?
dr. Evan Woo replied 3 years ago

Doctor, I want to do Rhinoplasty using my own cartilage to be natural. I also plan to have eyelid surgery. How much are the estimated costs? Is there any guarantee? But would there be any effects to my cartilage if I am 40 years old now?
dr. Evan Woo replied 3 years ago

I am specialised in Breast and Body contouring. But for your enquiry on rhinoplasty and eyelid surgery, I can recommend someone who can attend to your enquiry.

Doctor, I am 40 years old and I had breast implant surgery in 2010. Now, I feel like my breasts are burning, asymmetric, and look like there is a lump. What should I do? Is it possibly due to a ruptured breast implant?
dr. Evan Woo replied 3 years ago

Based on the above description, it could be due to capsular contracture or possible ALCL (Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma) but I will have to consult with you to discuss further.

Doctor, I am 35 years old and single. In the past 10 years, I have had surgeries three times in a row to remove the tumors from my left breast. The first tumor was around 3 cm, the second one was 5 cm, and the third one 2.5 cm. I have a family history of breast cancer. I am afraid I am at high risk. Should I remove my mammary gland and replace it with an implant to prevent breast cancer?
dr. Evan Woo replied 3 years ago

We will need to have a look at the pathology of the earlier lumps that were discovered. We will need to look into the details of your family history. It may be a case for prophylactic mastectomy and implant reconstruction.

Doctor, I am 17 years old, but my breasts are too small for my liking. Can I do breast implants? Is there any minimum age for breast implants? What should I prepare?
dr. Evan Woo replied 3 years ago

We will require parents' consent prior to doing the procedure. Parents can come along for the consultation. Thank you.

I plan to have breast implants, but I am still single. If I do implants, is there any chance I can breastfeed my children in the future?
dr. Evan Woo replied 3 years ago

Breast Augmentation with implants would not affect breast feeding in future.

Doctor, I am 38 years old. I have a history of heart disease. I want to do breast implants. Is it safe for me considering my heart history?
dr. Evan Woo replied 3 years ago

It does not impact if you have heart disease. The main risk is the anaesthesia – we will get our Anaesthetist to ensure you are fit.

Hello, Doctor. I am a 30 year old mother and I breastfed my children. My breasts are not firm anymore. What procedure should I undergo to tighten and firm up my breasts aside from implants? I am not confident with how I look now, but I am afraid to do implants.
dr. Evan Woo replied 3 years ago

Hi, I would think that fat grafting can help with the volume and radiofrequency/ High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) ca help to some extent with skin tightening. Thank you.
