Dr Ashim completed his MBBS in 1984 from University of Calcutta. He completed his surgical training at HAS JB and obtained his Fellowship, FRCS Edinburgh in 1990.
He was awarded the Public Service Department Scholarship for subspecialty training in Hepato-Bilary Surgery in UK and was designated as a Senior Clinical Research Fellow in the Department of Hepato- Biliary & Pancreatic & Liver Transplant Units initially at the King’s College and subsequently at the Royal Free Hospital, London. He was a consultant hepatobiliary/ pancreatic surgeon at Hospital Kuala Lumpur prior leaving to private practice.
Upon returning to Malaysia, Dr Ashim continued to serve in the Council of the College of Surgeons of Malaysia and had been the organizing chairman of several scientific meetings.
