Dr Lim Choon Pin is a Consultant Cardiologist with subspecialty accreditations in Echocardiography, Advanced Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support Devices (Artificial Heart Pumps) and Heart Transplantation.
In 2012, he completed his Cardiology specialization at the National Heart Centre of Singapore. He was awarded the Ministry of Health’s Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship in 2013 to sub-specialize in Advanced Heart Failure, Heart Transplantation and Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD). During his twelve-month clinical fellowship at the renowned St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, Australia, he participated in research activities involving advanced heart failure, VADs, heart transplantation and pulmonary hypertension. He is also trained in Advanced Echocardiography and was accredited by the European Society of Cardiovascular Imaging in Transthoracic and Transesophageal Echocardiography in 2013.
Besides managing patients with general cardiology conditions such as coronary artery disease and arrhythmia issues, as a key member of the Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Heart Transplant Services of the National Heart Centre of Singapore, he also cares for critically ill patients with advanced heart failure on life support and mechanical circulatory support systems in the Intensive Care Units. As a Consultant in the subspecialty of Echocardiography, he performs basic and advanced transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, including 3-dimensional echocardiography, strain imaging and contrast echocardiography.
He is well-recognised in the field of heart failure and has been an Organising Committee Member, Guest Faculty or Speaker to international cardiovascular conferences. In recognition of his contributions in the field of heart failure, he was appointed by the Ministry of Health as a Consultant and Deputy Chairman of the Heart Failure Services Improvement Programme in 2016.
